Anyone who lives in Cape Town will know all about the rain we had last week. Buckets and buckets of rain drenched the city, and more importantly, every square inch of catchment area for rivers in the Western Cape not excluding the Silvermine Valley in Noordhoek. As there are quite an intrepid bunch of guys living in the area I was semi mobbed by Dale Robinson, Tom Schilperoort and Tom Kingwell when a suggestion of some river action was mentioned. It obviously didn't take much convincing. I called up Hugh Tucker from Aquatrail down the road as they do river trips and have scores of kayaks to hire out and he had a croc and some paddles for us. Done Deal!!!

Saturday morning first light we were on the banks of the river and whooping our lungs out. It was flowing hard and fast! Superb conditions. We paired up and did about 3 runs each from below the forest down to the Sunbird Centre, about 300-400ms with some great little drops. Dlae and I had to cruise as I had to work, but Tom and Tom were still amped so they piped up: "We'll see you at the shop. Were paddling down to the sea." Well they had a great trip with only two portages around the thickest read sections. It was a great adventure day.
