The flash Revolution
The flash is the new racing surfski made by Carbonology in PE.
It is hard to design a ski which is fast in all conditions but these guys managed that!
I have paddled this boat in all conditions including big downwinds and I love it.
They have designed a boat with less volume in the front and it is a bit shorter. It works very well and offers less resistance to wind and waves so it is easier to speed up.
The nice volume in the back also allows you to catch almost every run available. The stability is very good, though different. But I prefer it compare to my previous surfskis. Really nice speed on flat as the nose and tail are in the water, the front deck is really slim and sharp to cut the water nicely. Upwind, this boat is very nice as it stays close to the water and does not slap it. Downwind, it is just awesome and it has a lot of potential. It is a different feeling than other
surfskis, it is very responsive and maneuverable, it can take some amazing lines and go through “closed doors”. It is a bit like riding an Arabian horse, you need more concentration and energy but it is very rewarding once you can control it, you will go faster.
Last but not least, the flash is very comfortable, the seating position is really nice and allows you to have a good leg drive and technique. Carbonology make strong and light boats, I have a glass vacuum and it must weight around 13kgs and it is very strong!
They have also developed a one way draining bullet scupper, it works very well and is a great innovation! |
