Hi there! What a weekend we had at the World Cup in Szeged.
Unfortunately for us we were known as the ambulance crew this weekend... Mich had a tummy bug for the week before, Carol and Jen had a cold and were allergic to the pollen and I got stung by a bee which made my eye swell up so much that it was swollen closed for 4 days!
BUT, we raced our hearts out! It was our first race together since last years World Champs so we got a little blown away at the start of our first heat in the K4 500m. In the Semi final the ambulance crew missed the A final by .004 of a second... that is probably about this much .......................................................! Over 500m which takes 1;37 and 36 people in the race that is close.
Team SA also had their K1 ladies trial between Jen Hodson and Bridgette Hartley. Both the SA girls made the final and came 4th and 5th respectively. That means that Jen paddles K1 at the Olympics and Bridgette paddles K2.
Shaun was a little off beat this weekend, but is excited to race in Germany this weekend.
Will keep in touch over the next few weeks as there are lots of races to come.
All is on track for Beijing and in less than 2 months time we will be there!
God Bless
Nikki
